The pickup went pretty smoothly overall. Nobody tried to hard-sell me anything, and even though the staff weren’t exactly warm or chatty, everything got done without issues, which I’m pretty happy about.
I did forget to bring the physical translation of my license when I picked up the car. They wouldn’t accept a photo or an online version; they insisted on seeing the actual document. Luckily I had my Brazilian driver’s license with me, and they accepted that.
Really good, way better value for money than we expected.
We had four people, one big suitcase and three 20-inch carry-ons, all packed to the max. The car was so full the rearview mirror was basically only useful for checking the sides, haha. Our plans changed later so we didn’t do a one-way drop anymore, and switched to the Portland rental location instead—just dropped the keys and left, super easy and hassle-free!
Service was excellent. The staff suggested a CA$50 prepay fuel option so I didn’t need to return the car with a full tank. Basically you pay 50 upfront and just try to use up as much gas as you can before returning it. I didn’t get it at first and the clerk explained it twice, but it turned out to be super convenient, especially since gas stations aren’t usually right next to the airport.
Picked up the car at Barcelona Airport T1 and it was super easy to find the rental desk. The staff were locals and incredibly friendly. They suggested an upgrade and local insurance, but when we declined there was no hard sell at all, which I really appreciated. There was a small hiccup when we went to actually get the car though—the team hadn’t brought out the model we’d booked, so we ended up waiting in the parking lot for about an hour. In the end they admitted it was their mistake and upgraded us to a nearly brand-new Volvo XC40 with just over 3,000 km on it, which felt like fair compensation. Returning the car was smooth too: the staff did a quick walk-around, found no issues, and we were done. The only downside of the trip was getting a parking ticket in Barcelona, which they said can only be processed after 15 days. Hope everyone else has a smooth trip too!
Everything went smoothly from pickup to return. No one tried to upsell insurance, all the charges were explained clearly, and we got the exact ID.3 we’d reserved. For return, we just followed the nav to oslo s p hus, parked in any open spot, and they didn’t even inspect the car on the spot—said they’d check it after cleaning. We simply handed the keys to the station staff and left. A week later the final bill arrived, and apart from tolls there were no extra fees at all. Awesome experience!
