Pretty good overall. They do try to upsell you on insurance and stuff, but that’s pretty standard.

Staff at the rental place were pretty nice. Had to wait a few minutes to pick up the car, drop-off was done in about two minutes, so overall I’m really happy.
Booked an RV4 but got a same-class Renault Captur instead. The car felt a bit smaller, but everything else was fine.

The office was fairly easy to find, and the manager was a young woman who actually seemed pretty experienced. Parking in Spain is insanely tight almost everywhere, which was really frustrating. When we first saw the rental car, we just couldn’t accept it at all—a 7‑seater that looked tiny. There were six of us, and we honestly couldn’t imagine how we were all supposed to fit. The manager told us, basically: if we don’t take this car, the rental we already paid is non‑refundable; if we wanted to switch to the 9‑seat Mercedes, it would be €200 a day. So we reluctantly took this “unbelievably small” car, squeezed six people in, and piled our luggage up like a mountain. Later, after driving into a few indoor car parks in Spain and Portugal, we realized how lucky we were—if we’d actually swapped to that Mercedes van, we’d have been in serious trouble, just trying to find and get into parking spaces would have driven us crazy. In the end we were genuinely thankful for that “cold and heartless” manager and her refusal to compromise.

The rental staff were really friendly. They did try to upsell some extra insurance at first, but once I explained we’d already bought full coverage, they backed off and didn’t push it.

I booked a gas car on QEEQ, but when we got to the counter the staff just looked at the booking and gave us an EV instead. After seeing it was electric, we went back and asked to change the car, but the guy refused, wouldn’t even look at the booking properly and had a pretty bad attitude, telling us to talk to his supervisor. We finally found the manager, showed him the reservation and he swapped it for a Renault gas car. Driving in Europe is still much more convenient with a petrol car—using an EV was really inconvenient.

I’ve rented with Europcar a few times now and have driven over 30,000 km safely around Europe with them—couldn’t be happier!

Pick-up and drop-off were pretty smooth, but there was no staff around when I returned the car. About an hour later they charged me 1,611 euros, claiming there were scratches on the body. I’m still dealing with the insurance claim now, luckily I had taken out the extra full coverage.

Overall very good. I’d suggest skipping the website insurance and just buying full coverage directly at the counter. It’s a bit more expensive, but you don’t have to leave a deposit of over €1,000.

Service was pretty solid. The self-service return was a bit tricky at first, but I managed to figure it out in the end.

They even gave us a free upgrade, and the pickup/return instructions were super clear, so it was really easy to find everything.
