MADRID–BARAJAS AIRPORT CAR RENTAL REVIEWS

This is my second time renting a car here, so I'm familiar with the process. The only downside is that the exit route is a bit complicated.

There wasn't much of a queue. We were unfamiliar with hybrid vehicles, but the staff provided patient and detailed explanations. The only downside was that the car's screen initially couldn't connect to the phone for mirroring, which made driving a bit inconvenient. Later, the car system automatically connected to the phone, and the trip went smoothly.

To be objective, Europcar doesn't actually have mini models. I checked their parking lot thoroughly for both pickup and drop-off.

No waiting in line, quick and efficient process.

I rented a car from Hertz for my trip through Spain and Portugal, covering over 3000 kilometers, and I was very satisfied. At first, I couldn’t find a document due to my own mistake, and I thought the rental company hadn’t provided it. However, the customer service team was incredibly patient and communicated with me via email until the issue was resolved. Once I found the document, they responded promptly to clear up the misunderstanding. I really appreciate their help! Picking up and returning the car was super convenient. The car itself was in great condition and had a navigation system that would even remind you when it’s time to signal or change lanes. It would also suggest taking a coffee break if needed.

At Madrid Airport, all the car rental companies are located together, but both when picking up and dropping off the car, only the Europcar counter had a crowd, while the other counters had barely anyone. This really shows how good their car conditions and service are. When picking up the car, the counter was staffed by a lovely lady who spoke excellent English and was incredibly patient. She helped us choose the right car based on our needs and even recommended a car that had only 4,000 kilometers on it. Although we upgraded the car on site and paid extra, the overall service experience was amazing and definitely worth recommending.

They didn’t log all the existing damage, so make sure you double-check everything before you leave and take plenty of photos as proof.

Rented a car in Spain for a road trip around Europe. When we got to France the car started having issues and couldn’t pick up speed, but at the airport in France they swapped and upgraded our car on the spot. Big international rental chains like this have branches in most European countries, which is honestly super convenient.

Super easy to find – just walk out to the arrivals hall, turn right and you’re there. Hardly any people, so we barely had to queue. Staff were really friendly; they did try to upsell insurance, but when we said no they didn’t push or make things awkward. Overall a pretty good experience, and returning the car was smooth and hassle-free too.

The service attitude was clear, and the explanation was detailed. Please note that the full insurance purchased on QEEQ has a 5000-euro deductible. To reduce it to zero, you need to purchase additional coverage directly at the car rental company.

The car rental company is pretty good overall, but they suggest you buy insurance or upgrade the vehicle to make you spend more money. Just ignore them and everything else is fine.

There were only two staff members, but overall they were fairly efficient. It took about 10-15 minutes to process each order. They did try to upsell their own insurance, but once they knew I had third-party coverage, they didn't push further.

Pretty satisfied overall.
