The car I picked up had quite a few scratches and dents, but that seems pretty normal for cars on this island. The rental company will probably get them fixed and they do keep records of existing damage, so as long as you don’t add any new scratches or bumps when you return it, you’re fine. Just make sure to take plenty of photos when you pick up the car so you’ve got proof of the original condition.
Really friendly staff and super efficient service. Picking up and returning the car was really quick, and they refunded the deposit right after I dropped the car off. They’ll recommend an upgrade when you rent, but you can just say no if you don’t need it.
The rental company was fine overall, but they charged €274 for the border-crossing fee plus one additional driver for 18 days, which felt a bit steep. Apparently the cross-border fee has gone up recently.
The guy at the airport was awesome. No hard sell at all, so I really don’t get where all those bad reviews online are coming from. My card had an issue and he patiently waited while I sorted it out. The whole rental process was super smooth.
Europcar has always been the benchmark among the big rental companies for me—service is great and definitely better than Sixt. I wanted to drive a BMW, but they said I arrived more than an hour late so they couldn’t hold the X1 and offered an Audi Q3 instead, saying it’d be roomier. When I went to pick it up I realized it really was bigger, and then they actually upgraded me again to a Q5, which was a fantastic surprise. The car was quite new but had lots of scratches, so I took photos of everything. The scratches are most likely because streets and parking garages in major European cities are really narrow. If the car hadn’t had so many marks on it, I’d have given them a perfect score.
Overall, Eurocpcar was really efficient and straightforward to deal with, no hidden tricks. I’d definitely consider using them again next time I’m in Europe.
