Extremely poor experience, absolutely terrible!!! Dishonest store, avoid at all costs!!!
I arrived at the store with all the required documents, and after waiting for half an hour, they finally finished serving the person ahead of me. It really took them half an hour to handle a single customer—no exaggeration!!! Finally, it was my turn. The staff at the counter (non-white, spoke Spanish, and had heavily accented English that was hard to understand) kept saying my card couldn't be processed and refused to give me the car!!! I had no choice but to call the car rental platform, which led to all sorts of back-and-forth. While the platform's attitude was okay, their service was very slow. I repeatedly handed the phone to the staff at the counter, but the issues persisted—the platform representative couldn't resolve it either!!! After wasting three hours, I suggested returning to the airport to rent from another company, which eventually worked out and I got a car. However, this shady shop refused to refund my money. Then I had to go back and forth with the platform for over a month, and they said they would pay me back first. It was exhausting. I can't believe this store is still listed on the platform—everyone beware!!! That day, it was just me, a 6-year-old child, and a nearly 70-year-old elder traveling. After landing, we wasted several hours dealing with this shady store. To make matters worse, I later discovered my credit card had been fraudulently charged. Truly infuriating!!!
Extremely poor service! Absolutely terrible! Fraudulent store, do not book here under any circumstances! I arrived at the store with all the required paperwork and waited half an hour for the previous customer service request to be completed. It takes half an hour to handle one person—and this is no exaggeration! When it was finally my turn, the store staff (non-white, speaking Spanish, very difficult to understand their English) claimed my card could not be swiped and refused to give me the car! I had to call the rental platform, which led to endless back-and-forth. Although the rental platform was relatively polite, their service was very slow. I had to repeatedly pass the phone to the store representative, but the issues remained unsolved. After wasting three hours, I asked to return to the airport to choose a vehicle from a different rental company, which eventually allowed me to successfully pick up a car. However, this fraudulent store refused to refund me. Following this, I had further disputes with the rental platform for over a month, during which they claimed they had advanced the refund to me. Utterly frustrating! This store is still available on the rental platform, so everyone must be cautious! That day, I was traveling alone with a six-year-old child and an elderly person nearly seventy years old. After landing, I wasted several hours dealing with this scam. To make matters worse, after returning home, I discovered unauthorized charges on my credit card. Truly incomprehensible and infuriating!
This is our second time renting a car from Carwiz. We are already familiar with the process. The small branch is located next to the sports arena, and it was easy to find with navigation. Take note of the operating hours in Serbia; it's best to pick up or return the car between 9 AM and 2 PM. Otherwise, they may consider it outside working hours and charge additional fees! Make sure to use your own credit card when picking up the car.
The overall service attitude was quite good, and they carefully checked all the details with me. When picking up the car, they marked all existing damages, which was helpful. However, I hope the car wouldn't have so many rental company logos. Additionally, even though I had already washed the car before returning it, I was still charged a €15 cleaning fee for insufficient cleanliness.
Overall, it was pretty good, but the car had some scratches when handed over. Remember to take a video for evidence to avoid disputes when returning the car.
The car pick-up was at the airport, under the tower. The same person handled both the pick-up and return. I only purchased basic insurance, while this company’s full coverage costs about 20 euros per day, which is relatively more cost-effective than options in my home country. Additionally, there was no need for upfront payment, as I purchased it directly through the local car rental company. The snow tires I noted in the reservation were arranged, and the car provided was a 1.2T Opel with just over 10,000 kilometers on the odometer. The power was average but sufficient. The trunk fit two 26-inch suitcases and one 24-inch suitcase comfortably. Overall, it was a good experience. During pick-up, they processed the pre-authorization of over 500 euros for insurance charges without much explanation, but upon returning the car, only the insurance fee was finalized while the rest was refunded. However, the charges were processed in the local currency instead of euros. All in all, it went smoothly and was a good experience.
The car rental company is not far from the airport, and there is a shuttle bus between the company and the airport. I want to give a thumbs-up to the shuttle driver.
The car was quite new, with only 12,000 kilometers driven when picked up, and very fuel-efficient. After driving 1,800 kilometers, I only refueled twice while maintaining a full tank for return. However, when faced with poor vehicle conditions, it was almost impossible to get assistance. In the past, I usually chose well-known international rental companies like Europe or Hertz for international trips. This time, I opted for this company mainly for convenience with cross-border travel, but the service was really disappointing—perhaps that’s just how service is in Serbia. During business hours, repeatedly calling the contact number provided for pickup resulted in no one answering or the calls being hung up, which was extremely frustrating. Luckily, after comparing rental platforms, I firmly opted for Zuzuche, which provided quick and effective assistance throughout the process.
In addition to credit and debit cards, you can now pay for online car rentals with cryptocurrency! Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), and Bitcoin Cash (BCH) are accepted. Curious about how long a Bitcoin transaction takes or how to pay with Bitcoin? Read our FAQs for more details.
