The car was casually rinsed with water before being handed over and wasn’t dried, leaving noticeable spots due to hard water in the UK. The interior also had dust and fingerprint smudges on the screen. When returning the car, they suggested returning it clean, but honestly, it didn’t affect the return process. Their attempts to upsell insurance felt a bit unfair—if you don’t buy their insurance, even a small damage the size of a billiard ball would cost £2000. Yes, you read that right, 2k!
I booked a Mazda CX-5, but ended up with a VW T-Roc, which is noticeably smaller. This made the entire trip inconvenient as the trunk was always fully packed with luggage. Every time we loaded or unloaded, we had to remove the trunk partition first. During one of these instances, we accidentally misplaced the partition. When returning the car, we were fined 400 euros for this, which felt opportunistic and unfair.
I booked a sedan Toyota Corolla, but the store gave me a hatchback instead. Please note, sedans and hatchbacks are classified into different categories when booking, with hatchbacks being a lower tier. Since I had a lot of luggage, I had to switch back to a sedan. After discussing with the staff, they insisted that I booked a hatchback. I showed them a screenshot of my order and explained that, although it was in Chinese, the image clearly showed a sedan. Eventually, they reluctantly gave me a sedan Toyota Corolla, but they told me it was only because I rented it for one day; if it had been multiple days, they wouldn't have accommodated me. I'm not sure who is to blame here, but the experience wasn't pleasant. Additionally, the car's condition was one of the worst I’ve encountered in years of renting. The trunk seemed to have been in an accident, with large gaps. The mileage was near 60,000, which is quite high. The seats and door panels were filthy, with even some graffiti from a marker.
This time we were provided with a slightly larger Volkswagen than the T-Roc, with only 18,000 kilometers. It was perfect because we had a long trip and needed a new, high-performance car.
