This was my first time trying Avis. I used Alamo before and everything was fine. The pickup and use process went smoothly, but after returning the car with a full tank, my credit card was charged over 80 dollars for fuel fees. They claimed the mileage I reported when returning the car didn't match the actual mileage, which is absolutely absurd. Luckily, I kept photo evidence, but it has been days and the issue still hasn't been resolved. I've rented cars from Alamo many times before and never encountered such problems. Seems like I won't be using Avis again in the future.

The car pickup location is close to Pier 66, which is convenient after disembarking from the cruise. The staff at the rental company handled procedures quickly, so the waiting time was short. However, the car provided had issues, and since I was returning it at a different location (the airport), I suspect they might prioritize giving inferior cars to one-way renters. The return process went smoothly. I shared my dissatisfaction with a staff member when returning the car. The return location is very close to the airport, and the shuttle bus transfer to the terminal was quick and easy.

The vehicle was new, performed well, and was very comfortable. Both pickup and drop-off were very smooth.

Waiting over 40 Minutes for car to be available as they didn't have any of the type we booked in the lot and didn't want to upgrade etc. it was tiring. More worryingly they have posted an additional charge to my credit card with no explanation. It just labeled as no packaged item charge and it's added $24.17 to my card. I have tried to find no it what it's for but no clue. We declined any and everything they offered and relied on the fact we'd pre booked and paid for everything with QEEQ. Have asked for QEEQ to try and fine out what the charges are for. Fingers crossed some one will explain or arrange for refund if they are not right.
