We rented two cars and added additional driver insurance and roadside assistance. For some reason, the prices for the two cars were slightly different, although the difference was only a few dollars. The cars were very new and in great condition, which was excellent. My companions all said the cost-performance ratio was very good. However, we waited quite a while to pick up the cars because there were quite a few people. One of our cars scratched another vehicle. When we returned, we just filled out an accident report and that was it; the full coverage was very convenient.

AVIS is a fairly large car rental company with rental points right at the airport, which is very convenient. The queue and rental process were also fairly smooth and quick. However, be aware that the free GPS mentioned by QEEQ is not provided locally but needs to be arranged well in advance in your home country. We missed this detail and ended up paying over $300 locally, which felt like a bit of a rip-off. Also, some of the GPS units are not fully translated into Chinese, so be extra cautious.

American people are really helpful—After dropping off the car in Salt Lake City, I had a flight back to LA. Unfortunately, the GPS led us to a timed parking lot instead of the return lot. With less than two hours until the flight and an iron fence between us and the return point, I couldn’t show my parents how anxious I was. I jumped out of the car and searched for help in the deserted area. Luckily, a staff member appeared after a few steps and, after I explained the situation, she drove us to the correct drop-off point, hugged me, and told me not to worry before running back—such a heartwarming and memorable experience for my parents too!

I originally reserved a five-seater SUV, but they upgraded me to a seven-seater. The Ford FLEX is too long for convenient parking, so I requested a change. They gave me a Ford Explorer with just over 20,000 kilometers on it, equipped with 4WD and hill descent control. Received a free upgrade to a Grand Cherokee. The car is spacious, with a large fuel tank. Used up half a tank of gas over three days. Returning the car at Salt Lake City Airport was very convenient, as there was a gas station nearby.

It's okay. Arrived half an hour early for normal pickup. No reserved sedan available on site, got swapped for an MPV. Not sure if it's considered an upgrade. Asked for an SUV but they wouldn't swap it for free. The car has 80,000 miles on it, overall the vehicle condition is decent.

It's just okay. Avis and Budget seem pretty much the same, always using tricks to make you spend more on their extra insurance or options like returning an empty fuel tank. Even if you decline, they may sneak it in while you're not paying attention. They'll claim the agreement was emailed to you in digital form. Make sure to demand a paper copy after signing electronically and double-check it immediately!

The queue at AVIS was rather long, likely because it's a large platform with good reputation. The customer service attitude was acceptable, but they added roadside assistance insurance without informing me. I only discovered this after checking my credit card statement following a car exchange. However, I had already purchased full coverage insurance during the booking process.
