I arrived at the agreed time to pick up the car, only to be told there were no available vehicles. They suggested I pay over 40 euros to upgrade to an Alfa Romeo, which I refused. Then, I was told I needed to wait an hour. After waiting another hour, they still didn’t have a car ready, and only when they were about to take their lunch break did they finally give me an MG SUV. On top of that, they didn't inform me the fuel tank was empty, nearly causing serious trouble for the rest of my trip. This was the worst car rental experience of my life.

Europecar offered me Fiat 500L instead of Renault Megane or any other with similar size of trunk. Fiat has 450 liters trunk, but every other car on list of similar cars has more than 500 (520-550) liters trunk. So I was forced to pay over 150 euro extra for a Seat Leon with automatic transmission (they had only Fiats in this class of cars), because I was not able to pack my luggage to Fiat 500L. There were some other issues like for example no spare wheel in the car, or any tyre repair kit, what I found after couple of days. Luckily I didn't need it. You have to carefully inspect the car, because half of scratches are not on the list of damages in the document you get. Europecar has now totally different way of doing business, comparing with my previous experience with this company.

This was my first time renting a car abroad, and the experience was fantastic. The car was very new, with less than 7000 kilometers driven. It was a hybrid with great power, easily handling the slopes of Taormina, and even had a hill descent control feature. Quite easy to operate.

The staff member we dealt with was very impatient and completely refused to acknowledge the translated document provided by the car rental platform (particularly regarding the validity period). They outright rejected the original driver's license and refused to provide a vehicle until the platform's customer service intervened online and presented an additional notarized document with extra certification. Only then, after switching to another staff member, did they reluctantly accept it.

The pickup and return processes are very efficient. The credit card deposit was refunded within minutes after returning the car. The only minor issue was at the airport pickup location, where the store indicated queuing was required, but after taking a number, no one actually called the numbers. The staff were busy looking at their phones, and I only found out there was no need to queue after asking proactively.

I strongly advise everyone not to rent a car from this company! When they deliver the car, they check it with an impatient attitude, and many scratches and dents are left unmarked. After I inspected the car, I added nearly ten scratches to the contract myself. If you overlook taking photos, they'll later point to pre-existing scratches and make you pay for them when returning the car! I argued for nearly an hour, but they insisted the damage was caused by me. The scratch in question was under the lower fold of the rear bumper—a spot that's extremely hard to notice—and the scratch was very light. If the car is dirty, you can't see it at all. Still, they made me pay €195. From the outset, they kept saying, 'Pay €195; it won't cost you anything because your insurance will cover it.' I have shared my bad experience so no one else needs to fall into this trap!

The car pickup service was excellent. I purchased basic insurance on the platform and added extra insurance for over 100 Euros at the store. When returning the car, they conducted a very thorough inspection. There were three extremely minor damages that would cost only 200 Yuan to repair in China, or might not even need repair. However, the rental company charged me over 680 Euros for them. I asked what my insurance covered, and the staff told me it would have been over 1,300 Euros without insurance. Unfortunately, there's no option to upload photos here, otherwise, I would definitely upload pictures to show everyone the so-called 'scratches.'

The service from Budget was pretty good. Unlike the car rental company we used in Sicily before, they didn't create unnecessary trouble. Returning the car was straightforward. The only issue was the car model was changed to a Toyota Yaris, which is much smaller than the Lynk & Co we originally booked.

Avis is really terrible. When I arrived at the airport, they first asked if I could drive a manual car. I said no, so they told me they only had one automatic car left, which was twice as expensive. Now, after final settlement, it turned out to be three times more expensive. I returned the car with a full tank and had paid for the toll in advance. It's outrageous. Once you sign, they don't recognize anything. I saw that Avis has the most negative reviews, seemingly managing to survive by deception. I swear I will never rent an Avis car again. Everyone should be cautious! Previously, I rented with Europcar in Norway and other countries; the price was always what I paid in advance, never like this!

After two hours of driving, a tire burst occurred. It was discovered that the tire had been previously patched with a mushroom plug and was now completely unusable. Roadside assistance was requested, but communication efficiency was extremely poor, and the attitude was bad. Both the rental company and rescue phone lines had only Italian-language voicemail, forcing me to guess by pressing 1 or 2 to reach customer service. With additional help from the rental platform, it took about four hours for the rental company to dispatch a tow truck to remove the car from the road. Since the repair shop contracted by the rental company was closed on Sunday, even though a third-party rescue company was capable of immediately fixing the tire, the rental company insisted the repair be done at their designated shop on Monday due to the insurance not being purchased from their shop. This caused nearly 24 hours of delay, greatly impacting the overall trip and incurring extra expenses for lodging and taxis. Despite the tire having suffered damage at least twice with a large hole, the rental company opted to patch the tire instead of replacing it. The safety of the vehicle under such conditions is highly questionable.

Not satisfied. When picking up the car, they said they would pick us up in 10 minutes, but we ended up waiting almost 40 minutes at the door. The pick-up location was quite far, it was in a distant parking lot. The car they gave us initially had issues, so they replaced it with another one that we were not very happy with. The worst part was that the next day the tire started leaking, and the car itself alerted us. When we called them, they said there were no replacement cars available and told us to resolve it ourselves at a gas station. During this time, an Italian driver scraped the car and then fled. For a minor scratch, they charged me 500 euros. Fortunately, I had purchased insurance. Strongly recommend buying insurance—it was the worst car rental experience I've ever had.

Very pushy on selling additional insurance! I have ended up buying one as i was put in panic mode by the agents behind the counter. First car developed a problem after four days , phoned assistance and i ended up doing a 120 miles round trip back to Palermo to swap vehicle! All to my expenses. Second car, after only 60 miles, needed a full tank of adblue. Wont use them again.

Overall satisfied. Both pickup and drop-off were at the airport, but you need to call in advance to confirm the exact location. If you don't have full insurance, be sure to mark all existing vehicle issues with the staff during pickup; otherwise, there could be major problems during drop-off! I bought full insurance at the airport and assumed the staff had already marked all issues when I picked up the car, but many previous scratches and dents were actually not noted. When returning the car, the staff claimed there were scratches. Luckily, I had full insurance and the initial video, so I wasn't charged extra. Otherwise, I definitely would have been charged! Make sure to buy full insurance at the airport from the car rental company, not just through the app…

Rude staff who didn’t think this was their fault and tried to give us 2 small cars - they didn’t appreciate this would be double the fuel and double the insurance costs. They initially refused to drop off a larger car at our premises but eventually agreed to this. Poor service. The large car dropped off was unclean inside and they tried to charge us a cleaning fee on dropping this off - we refused with photographic evidence of the lack of cleanliness of the car on receiving g it.

The car provided did not match the one I booked; I received an extremely damaged old vehicle. They claimed all cars were like that and had no Smart available. The staff had a terrible attitude, especially after learning I refused to purchase any insurance. They ignored my request for help with my 30 kg suitcase, and one of the female staff members complained of back pain. Ultimately, a passerby helped me with my luggage. The car was very old, had no USB port, and the central console screen was almost unreadable, so I had to use my phone for navigation. For pickup, they had to collect me from the airport, but communication was difficult in English until a local helped translate. I had to wait outside the airport for them, which was 5 km away. They charged €50 for dropping off the car at the airport, whereas my nearby hotel owner charged €30 for the ride. Overall, my 7-day rental cost me over €20 additionally, and the taxi to the airport cost me €30 for 5 km. They also charged me over €800 without explanation; I have notified the bank for investigation and they advised me to report to the police if necessary. Be careful when dealing with this company or any car rental in Italy, as even gas stations can be tricky.

The store's pick-up service was very untimely; I waited at the airport for forty minutes before someone arrived! Initially, they promised a full tank, but the car only had 80% fuel when I received it. Furthermore, because of their delay in the pick-up service, the actual rental start time was fifty minutes later than scheduled, yet the store insisted on returning the car at the originally scheduled time – such unfair terms! The car's condition was also quite average with very basic accessories.

On vous récupère à l'aéroport, on vous ramène à l'aéroport. Le véhicule n'a que 650 kms et est super équipé (GPS,climatisation, assistance en côte, régulateur de vitesse). Au retour le lavage du véhicule est réalisé par Centuro. Le personnel est agréable, et vous explique clairement les conditions du contrat. Tout cela pour 72 euros pour 8 jours avec une assurance tous risques sans franchise. (36 euros avec l'assurance de base). BRAVO et à bientôt

Did not have the car that I requested. They said that Fiat 500 is too popular amongst thieves hence they gave us crappy Kia Picanto. The car was new but the motor was too small and not powerful enough. The pick up location is 10 minutes drive from Palermo airport. We had to call the pickup location and wait for 20 minutes to be collected. Then we spent another 30 minutes waiting for the car. All in all an average experience.

Avoid Optimorent (Autovia)! E.g. when you take away the car they tell you to touch with your fingers (!!) the bottom edge of the car for scratches. When you return they will blame you for minor scratches and try to steal extra money from you. If you can not avoid them, make detailed video on all parts of the car. Use mirror to check the bottom edge of the car. Is it funny? No, you will not laugh when they blame you for ‘damages’. They seem to be cheap but they will be very expensive at the end. Use other rental company to avoid problems!

Green Motion is an absolute scam in how they run their business. When we dropped the car off they went out of their way to find an issue with the car, and they did. We were charged an additional 81 euros for a hub-cap scratch. A scratch that I don’t think we did. We couldn’t argue much with them because we were off site and most likely they would not taken us back to the airport if we created an issue. Complete crooks!
