Located right opposite T2, very easy to find. The car is in excellent condition, a new vehicle with just over 10,000 kilometers. They briefly introduced the insurance, and when I declined, they didn't push further. The deposit was refunded the day after the car was returned, and the invoice was sent via email. Overall, very satisfied!
The charges were very transparent. I voluntarily purchased the car rental company's insurance, along with tire and glass coverage. The staff were very polite and explained all the fees clearly. I had booked the 2021 Kia Carnival, but they gave me a 2024 new model Kia Carnival instead. The car was very new, though the right rear door panel made a bit of a creaking noise when driving. It wasn't a big deal since you can't hear it when playing music. I only paid a little over $100 as a deposit via pre-authorization, which was refunded on the third day after returning the car. During my time in Melbourne, I accidentally drove a short stretch on a toll road. The rental contract mentioned that toll charges would be deducted from the deposit along with a small handling fee, but when I received the final bill, no charges had been deducted. I’m not sure how that was processed in the end.
QEEQ Car Rental Review
Overall, the car rental experience was quite good. We rented a Toyota Kluger, which was in excellent condition. The car was very new and easy to drive. It had CarPlay, making navigation and music convenient, and the whole trip went smoothly.
Pick-up and Drop-off Experience
The pick-up process was smooth, and the staff were friendly. However, we encountered a minor issue during drop-off. We rented the car at Melbourne Airport and returned it at Sydney Airport Terminal 1 (T1). The drop-off instructions provided by QEEQ were somewhat confusing. Initially, it mentioned the drop-off location at T1, but later it added a note saying Sydney Airport was undergoing renovations, requiring returns at an alternate location nearby. In reality, this change only applied to Terminals 2 (T2) and 3 (T3), while T1 remained unaffected. This misinformation misled us into thinking T1 was not a valid drop-off location, wasting over half an hour as the shuttle bus didn’t stop at T1. QEEQ should clarify drop-off details for different terminals to prevent users from unnecessary delays.
Driving Experience and Road Conditions
Driving from Melbourne to Sydney was quite challenging. The route consisted largely of mountainous roads with steep slopes and sharp turns, and city streets were relatively narrow. Additionally, Australia uses right-hand drive vehicles, which require adjustment for those unfamiliar. Even as an experienced driver, it took me several days to fully adapt to driving the Kluger. For novice drivers, renting a smaller vehicle is advisable to reduce driving difficulties, especially for parking and making U-turns on narrow roads.
Vehicle Cleanliness
Based on tips from Xiaohongshu, we learned that dirty cars might incur cleaning fees. To avoid this, we bought a small broom to clean up sand and dirt from inside and outside the car before returning it. This worked well, as we successfully returned the vehicle without any additional charges. Sharing this for reference.
Tips and Suggestions
1. Insurance: It's recommended to purchase insurance directly at the rental site. Though slightly more expensive, it’s easier to handle claims. If you opt for QEEQ's insurance, you’ll need to pay upfront and file for reimbursement afterward when you return home, which can be cumbersome.
2. Booster Seat: For families with children, it’s better to buy a booster seat in advance in your home country. It’s affordable, and you can dispose of it after use. Renting one on-site is quite costly and not cost-effective.
3. Car Model: Novice drivers or those unaccustomed to driving larger vehicles should opt for a smaller model for easier handling and reduced driving stress.
In summary, the car rental experience was good overall, but QEEQ could improve its return instructions for better clarity.
Overall satisfied. The staff's service attitude was great, business transactions were handled efficiently, and the waiting time was short. After refusing other services introduced, the staff didn't make things difficult and promptly completed the procedures.
