Driver's License Requirements

The main driver and any additional drivers must provide a full physical driving licence with no major endorsements. The license should be held for at least 1-2 year(s).

For foreign renters, you need to bring:

Original Driver's License in Latin/Roman Alphabet

Original Driver's Licenses printed in Latin/Roman alphabet (such as English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, etc.) are acceptable for car rental without the need for an International Driving Permit (IDP). Driver's licenses printed in a non-Roman alphabet (such as Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Cyrillic, etc.) must be accompanied by an International Driving Permit.

Fox Rent A Car is probably the worst company i have ever rented a car from. How do you justify having only two people working your counter on a Saturday morning. You are well aware of the amount of reservations you have on any given day. Staff accordingly. Take care of your vehicles. I wound up in a Toyota Sienna that at highway speeds shook nonstop as if the wheels were going to come off. The plastic moldings inside the car are broken and will not sit in place. The carpeting in the trunk is almost nonexistent

I was very disappointed in the time I had to wait to pick up my car. I arrived at the time that I had specified when I rented the car online, as did the other people in line. There should have been more than one person on duty for the number of cars that were reserved for that time.

We loved the car... it was a Dodge charger. The time spent at the Fox counter for check-in was ridiculous. When we got there there was a long line, and only 2 agents helping. Finally a 3rd agent came which helped a little bit. It still took over one hour to get checked out which is frustrating and inexcusable. We came in late on a Saturday evening, so were anxious to get to our condo in St. Pete's beach. The wait at the counter was very annoying.

Waited in line for a car I reserved on line for over 2 hours and when I got up there was told fox does not have the car I ordered. Was given a van that I could not fit in because I an short. The man who helped get the keys was good and helped me get a small car which is what I ordered. I will not rent from fox again. Long time wait for a reserved car on line. Thanks.

It took almost an hour once we arrived at the airport to pick up the car. There were initially only two people working and a line out the door. I was offered a million different things I had already declined online when I booked all costing more. Even a discount on tolls which there were none of. I knew that since I had already been to the same area before but the agent didn’t tell me that. Anything for more money. However the vehicle was great as well as the return process.

A fourth person came on just as it was my turn, it took me only 10 min to get my rental? The staff waiting on us was great - no high pressure to upgrade or add on additional insurance. The vehicle itself was not the best - a Kia Sportage - with 60,000. The outside was pretty banged up. I’m not sure how many miles they’re kept in service - but I’m pretty sure the resale value on that one was not good.

it was the worst experience ever, they overcharged us and although we showed them our invoice with the remaining amount we owed they charges us double and refused to refund us the correct amount. Their customer service and emergency road service was terrible. It took more than 4 hours for customer service to return my call and once they did, they disconnected me when transferring me to emergency road service which is automated. I’d already called them and it took 2 hours for a return call which had I been stranded could have proved dangerous and possibly fatal. Then it was almost 2 more hours before they gave me a new car. Additionally, I’d made an error on the drop-off time of the vehicle. I’d indicated 4:00 am instead of 4:00 pm on the same day. Myoverall cost skyrocketed to 376.00 US $ rather than the CDN rate! The car we reserved was unavailable so we got an upgrade to a Kia sportage. The car was quite scratched up on the exterior and the seats inside were dirty and stained . It had 57K miles on it . The car drove well , seemingly had no mechanical issues and was surprisingly comfortable for a compact SUV of that price range. I didn't mind the age or mileage , because I didn't pay for an expensive vehicle , but I would have expected a cleaner one, I will try them again.

Car was in much poorer condition than the vehicles we own. Fox Tampa staff is great; Fox corporate customer service awful. 2 major issues. After driving a bit, had an oil/burning smell that would not go away--seemed to have a bad tire or wheel bearing. Also, had a soft tire (took picture of air pressure screen) on pickup. Discovered next day that it wouldn't hold air after re-filling with air, because it had a nail in it. Fox Customer Service said we needed to pay because it was not reported within 6 hours. Very disappointed in their lack of appropriate service.
