The counter service at Alamo is quite good, but I felt like the staff were not being entirely honest. When I went to pick up the car, the counter staff saw that it was just my family of three with no luggage, but still told me the car I rented was too small to fit any luggage. They asked if I was sure I wanted such a small car and reminded me about the $300 one-way fee to return the car in IDAHO FALLS. After I confirmed, they recommended additional insurance. When I finally got the car, the staff told me I was getting a free upgrade, which made me happy and I tipped them. But after driving off, I realized they gave me a car from IDAHO FALLS. Essentially, I was delivering their car back to IDAHO FALLS from Las Vegas and still being charged the $300 one-way fee, plus the higher fuel consumption for driving an SUV instead of the small economy car I originally rented. I believe this is deceptive. If they upgrade me for free, it should be a Las Vegas car, not one from IDAHO FALLS. They shouldn't charge me the one-way fee in this case. Also, the increased fuel cost due to the upgrade should be considered. I believe they should at least refund the $300 one-way fee.
