The Hertz staff told us it was just a credit card pre-authorization, but in reality, they charged us the full insurance fee without our understanding of French. Moreover, no matter how we tried to explain later, they refused to refund it.

Customer service was very slow, and the local company's English communication is challenging.

The car was not the car we ordered. It was far too small for 4 adults and all our luggage so we had to have luggage crammed between two people. On charging even though we paid in Euro they have done their own currency conversion so instead of €182.98 we have paid €193.08. I am not at all impressed by this or the service of hertz in Paris. The deposit block also still appears to be on the card.

We booked and expected a Peugeot 308 Wagon but were given a Citroen sedan which was not really suitable - we were told it was the only car left available and we didn't have a choice except to pay more and upgrade if we wanted a different car. Would not change the car at a later date without charging us to pay out the existing contract and then start a new contract which was way too expensive.
