Q1.What is an insurance excess？
The excess is the amount you'll only be liable for in case of damage(under Collision Damage Waiver) or theft(under Theft Protection) of the vehicle.
Information about the excess will be clearly stated in the price inclusion when you reserve a car on QEEQ.
Q2. How can I add an addtional driver?
You are advised to make a request upon your arrival at the rental counter. Additional charge per day will incur unless '1 Additional Driver Included' is stipulated on the rental.
Please note that the same licence and age requirement applys to the additonal driver. The addtional driver is supposed to present the required licence document along with the main driver at pickup.
Q3.What if I want to pick up or drop off my rental car out of office hours?
QEEQ will show you the car offers available at your chosen time on the search results.
However, pick-up or drop-off out of general opening hours may subject to an extra fee unless self-service pick-up or drop-off is available.
After you reserve a car on QEEQ, we will inform you of specific policy of the car hire company by email.
Q4. Can I take the hired car to another country or cross border?
If you want to pick up your car in one country and drop it in another, your search results will show you cars you can do that with.
If you're planning to cross any borders during your trip, bear in mind:
1. You may have to pay more.
There are often extra fees, taxes or additional cover you'll pay at the car hire counter.
2.It may not be allowed.
Depending on where you're hiring, you may not be able to take your car to another country.
Please email us if you want to take your hire car into a different country during your trip, and we'll talk you through your options.
Q5. Can I pick up my car at one location and return it at different location?
Yes. You can pick up the vehicle in one place and drop it off in another. An ‘one-way fee’ will incur. Whether it is inclued in the rental price or what additional cost may arise will be clearly stated at the time of booking on QEEQ.
Please inform the car hire company of your drop-off location when you pick up the vehicle or contact them directly during your trip. You will find a phone number on the rental agreement you signed at pickup.

Queued for about 40 minutes just to pick up the car. I’d booked a BMW X1, but when the staff saw we had three large suitcases, they tried to give us a Mercedes GLA instead, then said the luggage wouldn’t fit and suggested we pay extra to upgrade to an X3. I refused and kept insisting for around 5–10 minutes before they finally told me there was a Volvo XC40 available.

Before this trip I did a lot of research on self‑drive in Europe and honestly every rental company had plenty of complaints, so I just took a chance on Alamo. Turned out all three brands in Madrid use the same local agent [机智]. Pick‑up was super smooth with no hard upselling. They just asked if I wanted to buy insurance from them, I said I’d already bought full coverage on QEEQ, and they dropped it right away. None of that attitude you see in online reviews where they get annoyed if you don’t buy their insurance or try to block extra deposit. They simply followed the contract, put a €200 hold on my card, and released it right after I returned the car. Very honest and professional.

I booked a gas car on QEEQ, but when we got to the counter the staff just looked at the booking and gave us an EV instead. After seeing it was electric, we went back and asked to change the car, but the guy refused, wouldn’t even look at the booking properly and had a pretty bad attitude, telling us to talk to his supervisor. We finally found the manager, showed him the reservation and he swapped it for a Renault gas car. Driving in Europe is still much more convenient with a petrol car—using an EV was really inconvenient.

Our self-drive trip in Spain went really smoothly overall. There was just one incident in downtown Barcelona: while we were stopped at a red light, an Indian guy on a motorbike punctured our right rear tire. We called for roadside assistance and the rental company responded really quickly, sending both a tow truck and a taxi. We took the taxi back to the rental office to swap cars. Returning the car was super easy too—you just park in the designated area and drop the keys in the mailbox. The service was excellent!

The office was fairly easy to find, and the manager was a young woman who actually seemed pretty experienced. Parking in Spain is insanely tight almost everywhere, which was really frustrating. When we first saw the rental car, we just couldn’t accept it at all—a 7‑seater that looked tiny. There were six of us, and we honestly couldn’t imagine how we were all supposed to fit. The manager told us, basically: if we don’t take this car, the rental we already paid is non‑refundable; if we wanted to switch to the 9‑seat Mercedes, it would be €200 a day. So we reluctantly took this “unbelievably small” car, squeezed six people in, and piled our luggage up like a mountain. Later, after driving into a few indoor car parks in Spain and Portugal, we realized how lucky we were—if we’d actually swapped to that Mercedes van, we’d have been in serious trouble, just trying to find and get into parking spaces would have driven us crazy. In the end we were genuinely thankful for that “cold and heartless” manager and her refusal to compromise.
