This is our second time renting a car from Carwiz. We are already familiar with the process. The small branch is located next to the sports arena, and it was easy to find with navigation. Take note of the operating hours in Serbia; it's best to pick up or return the car between 9 AM and 2 PM. Otherwise, they may consider it outside working hours and charge additional fees! Make sure to use your own credit card when picking up the car.
Very satisfied. They provided detailed reminders and explained how to handle border crossing after learning about my need for it. Regarding insurance, they knew I had already purchased it in advance and did not try to upsell any additional insurance.
Overall, it was pretty good, but the car had some scratches when handed over. Remember to take a video for evidence to avoid disputes when returning the car.
The car pick-up was at the airport, under the tower. The same person handled both the pick-up and return. I only purchased basic insurance, while this company’s full coverage costs about 20 euros per day, which is relatively more cost-effective than options in my home country. Additionally, there was no need for upfront payment, as I purchased it directly through the local car rental company. The snow tires I noted in the reservation were arranged, and the car provided was a 1.2T Opel with just over 10,000 kilometers on the odometer. The power was average but sufficient. The trunk fit two 26-inch suitcases and one 24-inch suitcase comfortably. Overall, it was a good experience. During pick-up, they processed the pre-authorization of over 500 euros for insurance charges without much explanation, but upon returning the car, only the insurance fee was finalized while the rest was refunded. However, the charges were processed in the local currency instead of euros. All in all, it went smoothly and was a good experience.
The service attitude was excellent, the vehicle was in great condition, and the process of picking up and returning the car was very convenient. The staff didn’t try to upsell or impose any hidden charges.
The car was quite new, with only 12,000 kilometers driven when picked up, and very fuel-efficient. After driving 1,800 kilometers, I only refueled twice while maintaining a full tank for return. However, when faced with poor vehicle conditions, it was almost impossible to get assistance. In the past, I usually chose well-known international rental companies like Europe or Hertz for international trips. This time, I opted for this company mainly for convenience with cross-border travel, but the service was really disappointing—perhaps that’s just how service is in Serbia. During business hours, repeatedly calling the contact number provided for pickup resulted in no one answering or the calls being hung up, which was extremely frustrating. Luckily, after comparing rental platforms, I firmly opted for Zuzuche, which provided quick and effective assistance throughout the process.
Based on the highest-rated reviews, my actual experience was as follows: The staff were very polite during pickup, but the car I received was in terrible condition, with numerous dents and scratches and over 125,000 kilometers driven. They mentioned it was the last car available unless I paid extra to upgrade. Here, I want to specifically address their after-sales service: 1. The car broke down during the trip, and with the help of a kind local, we found out that the battery was dead, and there was no engine oil left. This shows the rental company lacks proper routine maintenance for their vehicles. 2. It was almost impossible to reach their office by phone. After countless calls (even the staff at another rental company helped us try contacting them), someone finally answered and said help would arrive in half an hour. However, it actually took three hours, and they ended up hiring a local taxi driver to deliver and replace the battery and oil. I believe renting cars from large international chains is much more reliable. They have proper rescue services and follow regulations for retiring high-mileage cars. This was the worst car rental experience I've had in over ten years and dozens of rentals abroad, which disrupted our travel plans significantly.
Everything was fine in the beginning, but when it came to handling the accident and damage assessment, the typical European attitude and arrogance became apparent.
