Pick-up Instructions

The ACE Rental Cars - Christchurch Airport car rental location is located out of the airport

Complimentary pick-up and drop-off service to our Christchurch Airport branch for customers from business time. The shuttle operates to Christchurch airport domestic & international terminals and Christchurch airport accommodation. CUSTOMERS ARRIVING AT CHRISTCHURCH AIRPORT Call 0800 502 277 (+64 3 360 3270) to arrange a pickup to by a Ace Rental Cars shuttle to collect their rental car, Once you have collected your luggage please call for collection by our courtesy shuttle 0800 502 277. Please make your way to Door 2, past the Air New Zealand check-in counters (Towards domestic arrivals/departures). Please wait outside Door 2 and look out for the yellow Ace shuttle. If pick up time is within after hour period, please provide relative information to branch and there is an after hour fee.

Drop-off Instructions

Shuttle service to Christchurch Airport domestic and Christchurch Airport international terminals from 08:00am – 16:45pm. DEPARTING FLIGHTS Allow an additional 30 minutes prior to flight check-in time for vehicle return & transfer to terminal.If returning your vehicle outside of business hours simply park outside our Christchurch Airport branch, lock the car and place keys in drop box on the far left side of the front entrance in the corner. Please note that our courtesy shuttles are not available outside of business hours and you will need to make your own way from the Christchurch Airport branch. IMPORTANT Leaving the car in the Airport Carpark will cost $60 in addition to all hourly parking charges incurred.

Driver's License Requirements

The main driver and any additional drivers must provide a full physical driving licence with no major endorsements. The license should be held for at least 1 year(s).

For foreign renters, you need to bring:

Original driving licence + NZTA Translation

The New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA), a professional organization, certifies driver's license translations specifically intended for self-driving rental vehicles within the New Zealand. Free online NZTA for Japanese driver's license holders: https://www.qeeq.com/nzta-topic

Original driving licence + International Driving Permit (IDP)

Please note that an International Driving Permit (IDP) is only a translation. You must present your original driving licence together with the original IDP at the counter — photocopies or scanned copies are not accepted.

Towards any New Zealand islands, taking rental cars crossing border is not allowed.

Ferry Transportation: Not Allowed

ACE Rental Cars does not allow to bring the rental vehicle to ferry. You will drop off your car at one port and collect another after crossing to the other island. A minimum of 3 days consecutive rental required in each island (If the minimum length of rental requirement is not met, then the rental will be charged as two separate hires.).
