There were few people when picking up the car, which was okay. However, when returning the car, we waited in line for an hour and a half. The kids were crying and there was nothing we could do. It was a bad experience.
Only one hitch when I tried to extend the hire neither easy car nor apex wanted to take responsibility, however thanks to the manager in Auckland it was all sorted.
When I needed help booking the Interislander Ferry the staff were excellent. Ellie in Wellington especially so.

Upon initial booking I required to speak to a person. Found it disconcerting to speak to someone in Hong Kong when talking about New Zealand.
They were not aware of the geography - places, areas etc. Wish I'd realise I was booking through an agent.
The car was tired and fairly scratched. It was generally the worst looking rental car in the parking lots of our hotels
