Picking up the car was speedy and convenient with the self-service machine. Returning it was simple; the staff just made a quick inspection and if everything was fine, you just leave the keys and go.

I had already purchased insurance on the rental platform but was still recommended insurance by the staff, which I agreed to in confusion, wasting money. The worst part was that the Chinese navigation device I rented was extremely expensive. I didn’t pay attention at the time, and the communication language barrier made it worse. I will never rent this kind of thing from the store again.

This was my first time renting a car abroad through QEEQ (specifically near Los Angeles Airport, as there are no car rental agencies within the airport). The process was quite smooth. There are car rental shuttle buses at the airport that provide free transport to the rental agencies (make sure to get on the right shuttle for your agency). The frequency is high with shuttles every few minutes. ALAMO is one of the larger rental agencies. During the check-in process, they asked if I wanted additional insurance such as collision damage and passenger insurance. I opted only for third-party liability insurance with a coverage of 1 million dollars. There are three fuel return options: 1) Prepay for a full tank and return the car empty, which is the cheapest per gallon but only worth it if you return it empty; 2) Have the rental agency refuel upon return, which is the most expensive per gallon; 3) Return the car with a full tank, which is what I chose.

When we went to pick up the car, it wasn't crowded, and the customer service was pretty good. However, when returning the car, we noticed there were a lot of people renting cars.

Clearly selected a mid-to-large SUV on the website (more expensive) but was given the option of a compact city SUV (listed at a lower price) upon arrival in the US. The time spent waiting for and choosing the car was included in the rental period. Despite this, I managed to choose a newer car (with lower mileage), but ended up paying extra for a higher-grade vehicle and wasted 40 minutes waiting for it.
