Fast and convenient, great service attitude with smiles

Alamo in Honolulu is huge, the staff is very nice, and the responsibilities are clearly divided: front desk handles paperwork, parking lot handles car delivery, and there's an exit registration for car inspection. However, I was not satisfied this time because the front desk secretly upgraded the luxury model. Since it was still within the full-size SUV category I originally booked, I didn't notice. Moreover, the contract indicated an upgrade period longer by one day than my actual rental period. I thought it was just a general note and didn't ask more questions, but eventually, there was an additional $25 daily upgrade fee.

The staff informed us that the reserved car only had basic insurance and asked if we needed additional coverage. After we declined, they did not push us further, only reminded us to drive carefully at our own risk. There were few compact cars available, but the small car was very economical, only consuming two fuel bars over two days. A $10 refuel before returning the car was enough to fill it up. Not opting for a full tank return was a wise decision. Upon returning the car to the store, they checked the fuel level and vehicle condition, and told us we were good to go within a minute. Very efficient.

Alamo on Oahu is about a ten-minute drive from Honolulu International Airport, with a shuttle bus provided by Alamo. However, the driver of the return shuttle to the airport misunderstood our accent and dropped us off at the international departure hall, although we were actually flying with Iceland Air to the Big Island. Iceland Air's counter is next to the Hawaiian Airlines entrance in an inconspicuous row of low buildings. We walked for about fifteen minutes from the international departure hall, asking for directions along the way. Luckily, we had plenty of time, but it was still quite stressful. The wait time in line wasn't long; we were attended to right after the previous customer finished. Since we had just arrived in Hawaii, we weren't very familiar with the car rental process and policies. We asked a lot of questions, and the staff patiently answered all of them. It was our first time picking up a car, so we had many questions about the car's condition. Thanks to the staff's patience, we felt confident enough to start our trip.

The staff have a good attitude, but since they are new, they are not very familiar with the business. Returning the car is quick and convenient. However, there are often few good cars available, and it is difficult to get the reserved model. You can only borrow a similar type of car.
