Alamo on Oahu is about a ten-minute drive from Honolulu International Airport, with a shuttle bus provided by Alamo. However, the driver of the return shuttle to the airport misunderstood our accent and dropped us off at the international departure hall, although we were actually flying with Iceland Air to the Big Island. Iceland Air's counter is next to the Hawaiian Airlines entrance in an inconspicuous row of low buildings. We walked for about fifteen minutes from the international departure hall, asking for directions along the way. Luckily, we had plenty of time, but it was still quite stressful.
The wait time in line wasn't long; we were attended to right after the previous customer finished. Since we had just arrived in Hawaii, we weren't very familiar with the car rental process and policies. We asked a lot of questions, and the staff patiently answered all of them. It was our first time picking up a car, so we had many questions about the car's condition. Thanks to the staff's patience, we felt confident enough to start our trip.
The front desk staff were quite good, and the return staff also had a good attitude. However, the pickup staff seemed to have a noticeable bias against Chinese people, which affected the overall rating. It may be because the pickup time was quite late (16:00), there were very few cars to choose from, and the car's condition was not great.
