When picking up the car, there was a 'routine request' alert on the vehicle. Unsure if it would affect our drive, we asked the rental company and they promptly switched the car for us. Initially pleased, we found upon reaching the parking spot that we were given a sedan instead of the mid-size SUV we reserved. We went back to the service window in the parking lot, but the staff were arrogant, insisting they gave us an SUV and refused to change the car again. If unsatisfied, we had to go to the rental hall on the 4th floor! After multiple contacts with Zuzuche customer service, my child and I dragged three suitcases back and forth from the 2nd floor to the 4th floor four times. Finally, the staff at the rental hall admitted the mistake and gave us the correct SUV. This whole ordeal at the Miami airport rental company delayed us by an hour, affecting our subsequent plans. Although the rental hall staff were very good and Zuzuche's customer service was prompt and proactive, the parking lot staff were arrogant and ignored my explanations and photos. Due to the rental company's mistake, we had to run around in over 30-degree heat, a 40-year-old woman and a minor girl dragging our luggage up and down multiple times!
I booked a Toyota Sienna in advance, but when I picked up the car, they swapped it for a Chrysler Pacifica without any explanation.
The problem is that the replacement car was in terrible condition. The car system was in Spanish, completely unusable. The steering wheel had a lot of play, making driving exhausting. The transmission had noticeable jerks at low speeds. The suspension was overly soft, and the brakes were even softer—completely unreliable in emergencies. The tires also had poor grip, and when changing lanes even at slightly higher speeds, you could hear the rear tires squealing.
The driving experience was awful. It seems like the car wasn't properly maintained. Even the provided tank of gas caused poor acceleration. I added a full tank of 93-octane gas at Costco, which made it slightly better.
What annoyed me the most was that there was a Sienna parked right there when I picked up the car, but they still didn't give it to me. What was that about???
