On the second day of renting a car in Auckland, I accidentally damaged the side mirror. Despite having purchased insurance beforehand, the rental company still required a deposit of 8900 NZD. The rental company’s refusal to refund the deposit is infuriating, and they have recently ignored my attempts to contact them. The rental company is run by Chinese people, so communication is easier, but the service is a nightmare.
