Our flight was scheduled to arrive at 10:50 PM, but the app stated that the counter closed at 11:00 PM. I consulted QEEQ's customer service, and they assured me someone would still be at the counter, so I went ahead and made the booking confidently. To be on the safe side, I chose Hertz, and it turned out to be either good luck or excellent service from Hertz, as someone was indeed there when I arrived at 11:30 PM. The only other staffed counter was Europar. Arriving late had its perks, though. After a brief friendly chat, I was genuinely grateful, as I needed to meet a client 100 kilometers away in Villingen the next day. The kind lady upgraded me to a 20,000-kilometer Alfa Romeo SUV.

The service this time was honestly unbelievable in a bad way. When picking up the car, they kept making things difficult and at one point basically refused to let me take the car. At night when I came back to return it and couldn’t find the drop-off spot, the staff on-site not only refused to help, they immediately started snapping at me with a horrible attitude. There was zero sense of customer service throughout the whole process.

On the other hand, QEEQ’s customer support really deserves praise. As soon as there was an issue, they stayed proactive, helped coordinate everything, even offered to switch me to another rental company and cover the price difference from the higher rate. They were efficient, friendly, and genuinely focused on solving the problem for the customer.

Alamo and Enterprise are the same group, and this experience made me completely blacklist them. If you have a choice, I’d strongly suggest avoiding them. My experiences with Avis, Budget, and Europcar have been much better.

The car we got was quite new, with only a bit over 9,000 km. However, the staff seemed a bit inflexible (possibly because the car wasn’t ready yet). We arrived at 2:30 PM for a 3 PM reservation, but they didn’t allow us to pick it up until 3 PM. On the bright side, we mentioned having insurance, and they didn’t try to upsell anything else.

The counter staff did not understand that charging the car on the return would be problematical.
