Please return the car to the parking area of East Coast Car Rentals and follow the signs or staff to stop the car. Our free shuttle bus will then bring you back to the airport.

Driver's License Requirements

The main driver and any additional drivers must provide a full physical driving licence with no major endorsements. The license should be held for at least 1-2 year(s).

For foreign renters, you need to bring:

Please note that an International Driving Permit (IDP) is only a translation. You must present your original driving licence together with the original IDP at the counter — photocopies or scanned copies are not accepted.

Original South Korea Driving License (English version)

An English translation must be provided on the back of the driver's license.

The translation of the driver's license certified by the Australian Translation and Accreditation Institute (NAATI) can be used to rent a car and drive in Australia.

If you're holding local driver's license, and this is your first time renting with Eastcoast and you reside within 150 km of pickup location, please provide a utility bill(dated within the last three months), like electricity, gas, water, rates, phone, or internet bills,as proof of address. Please ensure the address on the utility bill matches the one on your licence.

Rental cars can only be driven on sealed/bitumen or well maintained roads. Vehicles are not to be taken above the snow line. Not allow to drive between mainland Australia and Tasmania in either direction or into or out of the Northern Territory or Western Australia; Excluded from the protection is on the ferry or driving on beaches or through streams, dams, rivers or flood water. Please note, any vehicle towing or recovery costs incurred while located on any of the islands and locations listed above will be at the Customer’s expense and we are unable to guarantee the provision of a replacement vehicle.

The car was in great condition. 5 stars. It had safety features included in it which was a plus. The car was almost ready on arrival. They had to fit the baby seat but didn’t take long. The car I got was full of scratches n dents which have not been repaired, but when I returned the car, they straight away pointed at a 4-inch line at the bottom of the passenger door which I didn’t even notice as all other scratches seemed more noticeable than that. They claimed that I caused the little line n I was charged $500 for the repair n 2 days loss of rental. I have been renting cars quite a number of times since the last 2 years in Cairns, and all the other car rental companies didn’t even check or maybe just ignored those little scratches that was obviously not even the hirer’s fault. I don’t mind being charged if the car I got was a new one with a clean body n no scratch at all.

East Coast made us feel terrible as they wanted us to cancel the insurance we bought with you and take out theirs We were advised that they would charge us $4400 excessfor any damage and we would need to claim it back from you and that would be very problematic if we could actually get it back !! I certainly will not be using them or unfortunately you or any broker as all we wanted was a stress free hire , that is why we added the extra insurance..the worst kind of consequential selling from East Coast !!!!! I'm not sure why you use them if they suggest you will not payout on any claim? Fortunately we returned the car in perfect condition but every time we used the car it was stressful.

A relatively large local rental company. There's no on-site location at the airport, so a shuttle is needed. The store is not far and easy to find as it's on the main exit route from the airport. Confirming the terminal with the rental company is essential to avoid long waits. Upon arrival, you'll need to call them, so a certain level of English is required.
