The staff in Scotland were great.

Really happy with the car I rented this time.

It was okay and the process was pretty quick, but the car they gave me wasn’t great and felt really underpowered.

The staff were really friendly and always happy to help.

When I dropped off the car, I put the keys in the box by the elevator and somehow they still said I was late. QEEQ customer service tried to talk to the rental company, but they refused to give a full refund, and QEEQ ended up covering the rest themselves. Even with video proof they wouldn’t budge, so try to return the car a bit earlier just to be safe.

Europcar’s service was great, I’ll definitely choose them again next time.

Europcar is one of the most reliable car rental companies in Europe.

I’ve always trusted Avis, but the rep I dealt with this time was really unprofessional. They kept reminding us to fill up with gasoline when the car was clearly diesel. Luckily our experienced driver caught it in time—putting in the wrong fuel would’ve been a huge problem.

No hidden charges at all. I’d already bought full insurance through QEEQ, and once I told them, they didn’t try to upsell me anything.

Very professional company. I booked a compact (C) but they gave me a 1 Series instead. A bit smaller than expected, but it didn’t really cause any issues. Return process was smooth and the deposit was refunded very quickly.

From Heathrow you need to head to bus stops 9 or 10 and catch the shuttle. It’s about a 30‑minute ride to the rental company with several stops along the way, so make sure you leave enough time when returning the car. The staff will try to upsell insurance or a higher car class, which adds extra costs – I said no and they didn’t push it. Roads in the UK are quite narrow and there are plenty of cars, so just drive carefully.

Overall it was fine, but when I picked up the car the range showed 483 miles and they said the tank was full. When I returned it and filled it up myself, the range showed 600 miles, so I basically paid for an extra 117 miles of fuel. Since there was no record when I picked up the car, I was worried about disputes, so I just filled it up completely. In future, it’d be better if both sides confirm and record the fuel level at pickup.

When I picked up the car, the staff told me that since I took it a bit early, I’d need to return it 15 minutes earlier, which I was fine with. But right before drop-off I got an email saying I had to bring it back 30 minutes early instead. No idea what happened—really confusing and annoying.

Got hit by flying gravel on the highway and it cracked the front windshield. When we swapped the car, we told the staff and they said it wasn’t a problem (pretty sure they just handled it through insurance) and let us go without any hassle.

Booked a Volvo XC60 but ended up with a BMW instead, so the car model got swapped. The trunk was a bit small – we could only fit three 24-inch suitcases, and the last one had to go in my friend’s car.
That said, the car was really nice to drive, very comfortable and fuel-efficient. Pick-up and return were smooth, staff didn’t try to hard-sell anything, and the service was great overall.

I booked a 9‑seat Ford but ended up with a 9‑seat Renault Trafic van instead, and the body is quite a bit bigger than the Ford. The steering felt a bit stiff and heavy, so driving it was a little stressful at first, but it handled the whole trip fine with no issues at all. Both the pick-up and return were super smooth, and the staff were really friendly and helpful. Overall, the self‑drive experience in the UK was very good.

With both sides agreeing, EUROCAR upgraded us to a BMW 3 Series. The car was in great condition and both the pickup and drop-off service were excellent.

We were just two people, so they tried to upsell us to a smaller hybrid, saying it’d save on fuel. We turned it down, and even though we’d booked an HS, they gave us a ZS instead—honestly not a big deal. They did the usual insurance pitch, but once we refused they dropped it and didn’t push. Car swap and inspection were quick and smooth. Overall the service felt really good. Would recommend.

After landing at the airport, I decided to upgrade my original booking to a Mercedes-Benz CLA. I paid an extra £40 plus 57p tax, and the nice thing about the upgrade was that I didn’t have to return the car with a full charge.

AVIS closes at 3 p.m. on Saturdays. That day I couldn’t find the key drop-off box, so I didn’t manage to return the keys before they closed. To avoid any misunderstanding, I emailed AVIS right away to explain that the car had already been returned, but since I couldn’t locate the drop box, I took the keys with me and would bring them back first thing the next morning.

Early the next day, I went back to the branch just to return the keys. Thankfully, there were no extra charges. The staff later told me the key drop-off box is mounted right up against the wall and is really discreet, so it’s easy to miss if you’re not looking carefully.

The AVIS staff member who helped me this time was very patient and had a great attitude. He even suggested that I could contact him directly next time I need to rent a car, which felt really thoughtful. But now my biggest concern is actually the insurance. When I booked through QEEQ before, I used the insurance provided by the Chinese platform, which I’m familiar with and find easier to buy, communicate about and claim on. If I rent directly in the UK in the future, I’m not sure how I should arrange the insurance, what level of coverage is really necessary, what protections I shouldn’t skip, and how straightforward the claims process would be if something happened. Those questions still make me a bit uneasy and confused.

Brand-new car and everything went smoothly overall. The only hiccup was being charged an extra day because I picked up the car about ten minutes early, but luckily QEEQ helped sort it out after we talked it through.
