The rental page stated that there is a WeChat login option, but it was unavailable in reality. The car rental company did not respond to any emails before or after booking. Finally, I had a friend over there communicate via WhatsApp (since it is restricted in China). I chose the nearest location for pickup and drop-off, which went relatively smoothly, but the car was quite old. When picking up the car, the deposit was charged directly to my card as a payment instead of being pre-authorized, which tied up my funds. After returning to China, I repeatedly urged the company to refund the deposit. They provided a receipt (only showing the in-store payment for pickup and drop-off, with no additional charges) and requested my bank account details, saying it was with their finance department. Despite multiple follow-ups, they didn’t reply to emails or answer calls. They also didn’t respond on WhatsApp. It has been almost two months since returning the car, and I still haven’t received the deposit refund.
The condition of the car was not very good. During heavy rain in the UAE, the undercarriage cover came off in the water while driving to Al Ain, and the engine gave a warning. The small company doesn't have service points in Al Ain, which was quite inconvenient.
No service, no counter, and the staff response is extremely slow. Upon arrival, you need to contact the staff, follow their instructions to pick up the car in the parking lot, and bear the expensive airport parking fees yourself. When returning the car, you must provide an exact time for drop-off. The staff's response is extremely slow—I mentioned one day in advance that I wanted to return the car two hours earlier, but they didn't reply. On the day of return, I waited at the airport for an hour, and the airport parking fee they wanted me to cover was very expensive after exceeding 30 minutes. Due to their issues, I said I wouldn't pay, but they insisted on deducting from my credit card. Let's see how this will be resolved later. Worst experience, hands down.
The car condition was very poor, with the engine light turning on at one point during the trip. The rental company claimed to have WeChat, but in reality, they only had WhatsApp. Without WhatsApp, it was impossible to get in touch, and they kept shifting the blame. I did not receive any phone calls or emails regarding the confirmation of the return time. When I wanted to return the car early, the customer service directly said it was not allowed. I told them I wouldn't make my flight, and they responded with no solution and a very bad attitude. Additionally, due to high temperatures, the battery and engine warning lights kept flashing. When I called the rental company, they insisted I send them a video via WhatsApp for verification. So, does that mean without WhatsApp, there's no way to communicate with you?
In addition to credit and debit cards, you can now pay for online car rentals with cryptocurrency! Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), and Bitcoin Cash (BCH) are accepted. Curious about how long a Bitcoin transaction takes or how to pay with Bitcoin? Read our FAQs for more details.
