Originally booked a Chrysler 300, but was told at Newark Airport that it wasn't available, and that there's no guarantee it will be! Later, they offered a choice between a Cadillac XTS and a Chevrolet Impala of the same grade. Considering the trunk space, we chose the Impala. Fortunately, the car was very new, with only 8000 miles on it. Driving performance was good and we were quite satisfied. Initially planned to give a 3-star rating. We had reserved a same-location pickup and drop-off, but due to traffic reasons, decided to return the car in Brooklyn. Successfully changed the return location at a Hertz point near Washington for free, which was a pleasant surprise! Overall, a good experience.

Checkin Counter staff's responses were curt, speaks w minimal eye contact, no greetings, no smiles, no 'thank you'....simply bored with her job (?) Overall, unapproachable & checkin was unpleasant. In contrast, Checkout staff were courteous & professional.

One trend I have found with all rental companies of late is that there a very few (if any) rental company employees in the car pick up area. This time with Hertz, I rented a convertible and I didn't how to operate the roof, I had to find and then flag down an employee to instruct me how to raise and lower the roof. Usually I'm left on my own to figure out how a car systems work.

Wonderful, easy and intuitive to use.
