The Hertz and dollar said they only use a chip not swipe and my chip couldn’t and they refuse to sw

Initially, I wanted to give just one star, but then I thought that might be too harsh for a budget rental company, so I'll give two stars.
Drawbacks:
1. We reserved the car in downtown San Francisco and were supposed to pick it up at 9 AM. When we arrived, there was no car available, and they couldn't confirm when one would be ready. They told us to come back in an hour and a half. What kind of service is that? The staff had a cold attitude. After waiting for 2 hours, they didn’t provide the reserved Toyota RAV4, instead gave us a Kia Sportage with 16,000 miles on it. When we tried to negotiate, they said, 'Take it or leave it.' I mentioned the delay impacted our plans, and the manager harshly said they would cancel our booking immediately if we didn't accept. We had no choice but to take it. Once on the road, we found the car was in poor condition. The steering wheel shook at speeds over 60 KM/h, making driving feel unsafe.

The VW Jetta we reserved was not available. We were offered different options that were acceptable.

Good prices, nice experience.

Great customer service, car offered was not what we had booked but replacement was adequate for our needs. Car return was amazing though I got done for patrol, was charged way too much for not bringing it back full.

Easy to book a car, confirmation was quick and zero hassle with Dollar, they honored the booking made without any glitches.

Vehicle did not have a key fob. Vehicle was not inspected on return for damage.

I am watching to make sure no surprise charges are made.

Like: Got to drive a brand new Subaru Legacy which was a surprise. I didn’t know that Dollar had Subarus, so this was a bonus.
Dislike: Upon check in, the staff person tried to charge $10/day extra for my husband to also drive the car. This upsell was unacceptable and something I’ve never experienced at any other car rental place. Good news is, after complaining, the staff member agreed to not charge this extra fee.
