Pick-up Instructions

The Hertz - Gatwick South car rental location is located out of the airport

The Hertz Gatwick Airport car rental desk is conveniently located in both the North and South terminals inside the airport. In the South Terminal, head from Arrivals and follow the signs to Car Rental. Take the lift to Level 0, where you’ll see the pickup desks on the right-hand side. In the North Terminal, head from Arrivals and follow signs to Car Rental and Jubilee House on the lower forecourt. The pickup desk is a short walk past Jubilee House on the right-hand side. Gatwick Airport also offers a free inter-terminal shuttle service. This service runs every few minutes, with a journey time of just two minutes. Accessibility services are also available to those with additional requirements or limited mobility. If you need assistance at the airport, book via your airline or travel agent before your trip.

Drop-off Instructions

Returning your car to Hertz is simple. You can park your rental at the rental office at the South Terminal Desk. Follow our steps below to return your Gatwick Airport rental car from central London. Please note, this route includes tolls. Head south on the M23 and use the left two lanes at junction nine to exit towards Gatwick Airport. At the Gatwick Interchange, take the second exit towards the airport. Take the first exit on the Airport Way Roundabout onto the South Ring Road. Continue on the South Ring Road until you arrive at the Hertz car hire office.

The car was parked on its own in my private driveway in the country but they have accused me of a small scratch at the back above the bumper. This was already on the car and was not me but they are charging me for it. No-one went round the car with me on pick up and there was no-one there when i dropped it off Terrible - will never use Hertz again

The service from the well-known rental company was excellent, with easy pick-up and drop-off procedures. Our order was upgraded to an SUV, which was a brand-new car with only 11 miles when we picked it up. We were the first customers to drive it. We rented the car for 7 days and drove nearly 2,000 kilometers, picking it up in London, heading to Scotland, and then returning it in Edinburgh. Overall, it was a smooth experience.

At the end of the hire, I was stunned to find out the collision damage waiver did not cover damage to the windscreen from a stone thrown up by another vehicle. Also an an exorbitant charge for the repair. At least 4 times the real cost of replacement of the windscreen!

On the return day, we could choose between an on-the-spot inspection or a post-return inspection; we opted for the former to confirm everything was fine before leaving.
