Driver's License Requirements

The main driver and any additional drivers must provide a full physical driving licence with no major endorsements. The license should be held for at least 1-2 year(s).

EU/EEA driving licenses are valid for car rental across the EU/EEA, as well as in Switzerland and the United Kingdom.

Original driving licence + International Driving Permit (IDP)

Please note that an International Driving Permit (IDP) is only a translation. You must present your original driving licence together with the original IDP at the counter — photocopies or scanned copies are not accepted.

Pickup was very convenient, but returning the car was confusing. The drop-off location was inside a multi-story garage with no visible counter. The company's office is along the main road, but there is another car rental company on the same road, so we initially went to the wrong place. The queue moved quickly, and the rental process was efficient with no extra insurance upsell. We picked up the keys and self-collected the car, which was an Audi A5. As a two-door car, the back seats were not easy to access, but it had built-in navigation which was very helpful. Overall, it was a great experience.

Fast and efficient service with a warm and friendly attitude. We arrived almost 3 hours early and were able to temporarily store our luggage at the store. They balance principles with a human touch. The frozen credit card amount was released just 8 hours after returning the car, which is a practice worth learning for other rental companies.

I was quite satisfied with the overall service during this car rental experience. I’d give it 5 stars. The rental price was reasonable compared to previous occasions. Besides the 300 euros deposit, there was an additional 30 euros service fee. The Volkswagen car we rented was manufactured in 2024 and had only 2,100 kilometers on it when we picked it up—a brand-new car. We booked the car pickup for 9:00 AM and arrived a bit earlier, but the counter staff told us to come back at exactly 9:00 AM to proceed. The rental process was simple; they asked if we had insurance, we showed them our insurance documents, and they didn’t try to sell us additional coverage. Returning the car was even more convenient—just drive it into the garage, hand over the keys, and you're done. No further formalities were required. Compared to our experience with ALAMO in Zurich last June, which was a disaster, this was so much easier. From now on, we’ll rent with Europcar. Although their costs might be slightly higher, the pickup and return process is hassle-free, the cars are well-maintained, and the overall experience is reliable.
