The main driver and any additional drivers must provide a full physical driving licence with no major endorsements. The license should be held for at least 1 year(s).

Original Driver's Licenses printed in Latin/Roman alphabet (such as English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, etc.) are acceptable for car rental without the need for an International Driving Permit (IDP). A vehicle can be driven across the Canadian border at any time, no matter what location it was rented from. It is recommended to have PERS coverage when using vehicle in cross border rentals for the US and Canada. The renter must have a valid driver's license and rental record to cross the border into Canada. Canadian law does require that everyone entering the country have a passport, so everyone in the vehicle must have the proper identification. If a renter (including a Canadian resident) is driving a U.S. rented (and licensed in the U.S.) vehicle to Canada, it can only be driven across the border for up to 30 days unless an extension is requested from Customs at the time of entry.

The car was great - though borrowed from Hertz since they were out of cars. I had to wait in line for over an hour, much of the first part with only ONE employee trying to serve a LONG line of customers. Finally someone else showed up and it moved faster. The lady who helped me was very friendly, especially given the circumstances - she just needed more help!

The Thrifty counter was closed from my experience due to lack of employees. The sign sent us to the Dollar counter where there was one woman with 15 people ahead of me and the line grew to 20 behind me. It would have been better for Hertz to help out with my check-in as they had some employees standing around and they own Thrifty and Dollar. This is a fairly common short of help experience for me and just feel bad for the one person working.
