Q1.What is an insurance excess?
The excess is the amount you'll only be liable for in case of damage(under Collision Damage Waiver) or theft(under Theft Protection) of the vehicle.
Information about the excess will be clearly stated in the price inclusion when you reserve a car on QEEQ.
Q2. How can I add an addtional driver?
You are advised to make a request upon your arrival at the rental counter. Additional charge per day will incur unless '1 Additional Driver Included' is stipulated on the rental.
Please note that the same licence and age requirement applys to the additonal driver. The addtional driver is supposed to present the required licence document along with the main driver at pickup.
Q3.What if I want to pick up or drop off my rental car out of office hours?
QEEQ will show you the car offers available at your chosen time on the search results.
However, pick-up or drop-off out of general opening hours may subject to an extra fee unless self-service pick-up or drop-off is available.
After you reserve a car on QEEQ, we will inform you of specific policy of the car hire company by email.
Q4. Can I take the hired car to another country or cross border?
If you want to pick up your car in one country and drop it in another, your search results will show you cars you can do that with.
If you're planning to cross any borders during your trip, bear in mind:
1. You may have to pay more.
There are often extra fees, taxes or additional cover you'll pay at the car hire counter.
2.It may not be allowed.
Depending on where you're hiring, you may not be able to take your car to another country.
Please email us if you want to take your hire car into a different country during your trip, and we'll talk you through your options.
Q5. Can I pick up my car at one location and return it at different location?
Yes. You can pick up the vehicle in one place and drop it off in another. An ‘one-way fee’ will incur. Whether it is inclued in the rental price or what additional cost may arise will be clearly stated at the time of booking on QEEQ.
Please inform the car hire company of your drop-off location when you pick up the vehicle or contact them directly during your trip. You will find a phone number on the rental agreement you signed at pickup.

On May 25th, we rented a car from Alamo at the Portugal airport for four days. On the afternoon of the 26th, thieves smashed the rear right side window near Sintra Palace and stole a bag. On the 27th, we went to the car rental location to exchange the car and paid a glass damage fee of €252.15. On the morning of the 29th, around 5 AM, we returned the car through the self-service process. After returning home, the rental company charged an additional €676.50, claiming that the windshield of the second car was damaged. Despite multiple communications through the rental platform, they fabricated this claim and failed to provide evidence of the windshield being smashed. Alamo is a reputed car rental company, so why is there a blatant lack of basic honesty?

I rented a Skoda Octavia, as I own the same model myself and am very familiar with its storage capacity—it's a sedan. However, upon arrival, EUROCAR staff informed me that they could only provide me with a Mercedes A200 or a BMW 1 Series, both of which are hatchbacks. They argued that, according to their company's classification, these vehicles are in the same category. But clearly, in terms of storage capacity, they do not meet my rental requirements. As a result, I was forced to upgrade to a Citroën C5 Cross at an additional cost. Moreover, during the entire rental process, the staff kept pressuring me to pay extra for an upgrade. Trying to resolve this through the rental platform turned out to be ineffective.

Although located in a remote office building, the staff's attitude was good, and both pickup and drop-off went smoothly. The explanations regarding related matters were clear, and there were no attempts to upsell insurance or other extra charges. The onsite provided a Renault CLIO station wagon. At the time of pickup, the car's onboard computer indicated that its mileage had exceeded 190,000 kilometers. The interior was not only outdated but also dirty, with a burn hole from a cigarette on the driver's seat. The top of the gear shift knob was loose and detached, the dashboard coating was peeling, and worse, the tires were severely worn and cracked, which might pose a safety risk. During driving, the air conditioning barely worked, forcing me to open the windows even on highways. Otherwise, the car felt like a sauna inside.

The staff at the pickup location used to work in the travel industry and now have switched careers. I had a voucher that clearly stated: an automatic, compact car, like a Ford Focus, hybrid, and included SUPER CDW insurance. The staff insisted they didn’t have a hybrid car, and in addition, they gave me a smaller car. Later on, I discovered I had been given a car from the economy group. They also claimed I didn’t have SUPER CDW insurance, which I specifically booked in order to cancel the excess completely. The representative called the manager, who also insisted that this was what appeared in their system. He, too, insisted that they had no hybrid vehicles, and he also failed to inform me that I was being downgraded to a smaller car. Terrible service from an untrustworthy team.

Choosing Europecar for car rental in Germany was a great decision, and it turned out to be equally good in Portugal. I prefer avoiding complications, so I booked the basic insurance online and purchased full insurance on-site. If the car gets scratched in the parking lot, you don't have to worry since it's covered by the insurance. Returning the car was a bit tricky, as I had to circle around several times; the navigation was incorrect and I had to ask for directions. To find the return location, navigate to 'Arrival,' and you should see signs for 'Car Return,' or follow signs for 'rent-a-car.' Near the airport's arrival exit, there are fewer signs, so pay extra attention. If renting from an airport location, keep in mind that many lower-cost options might require a shuttle bus for pick-up.

It feels like fraudulent charges were involved. I chose this company because it seemed cheap, but at the airport, I couldn’t find the company’s shuttle bus or staff. I ended up on the shuttle of another company by mistake since they were located just next to each other on the same street. Their shuttle service was poor, and the staff who handled the car pickup process tried to upsell their own insurance for €370. Because I was confident in my driving skills, I didn’t buy it. However, in Malaga, Spain, while visiting Picasso's birthplace and art exhibition, the car parked in a normal parking lot was vandalized by locals, and the left side mirror was broken. I contacted the car rental company, and the staff advised me to call the police. With my poor foreign language skills, I tried calling the Spanish police twice, but they didn’t understand me and hung up each time as there were no Chinese-language services. Helplessly, I returned to Portugal. During the car return inspection, the staff told me that in addition to the broken left side mirror, there were scratches on the left wheel and damage to the tire. When I picked up the car, I followed the standard procedure and took photos of the car from all sides, including the front left, front right, back left, back right, and center. I carefully inspected areas like the bumpers and doors, but since the inspection was done indoors with poor lighting, I missed examining the tires and wheels. After taking the photos in front of the staff, I drove out of the parking lot and parked in sunlight to double-check the car. I noticed some minor scratches and informed the staff member who happened to come out. He told me the scratches were already noted on the car pickup form and assured me there was no need to worry. I didn’t inspect all four wheels or the rims in detail due to his assurance. However, at return, I was told that the damages, including the left side mirror, exceeded the €1,599 deposit I initially paid, which felt like a huge scam. Roughly calculated, the rental cost came out to €100 per day—ridiculously expensive. I hope other drivers who read my review won’t be misled by low prices. Small companies might have hidden traps waiting for you.

Klass Wagen would not accept my credit card for car hire without collision coverage as it only had my first name initials- they require full first name on the card however they were happy to take payment to include the cost of the insurance which was several times more than the cost of the rental without insurance. There was also a 20 Euro charge to drop off at the airport location which was different from pick up.
